Questing...
I’m reading Lord of the Rings my 11-year old daughter right now, and while our attempt to bring Fathers together to learn and grow and feel supported is no where near the Herculean task of delivering the Ring to the fires of Mordor, I can’t help but noticing the importance of our Fellowship.
There’s an experience of Quest in what we’re doing as dads and questing asks for partnership.
You may be dodging urine while you change diapers rather than the club of an ogre at a bridge.
You may be solving riddles that come from your wife rather than Gollum, but the consequences of solving the riddles correctly are just as dire.
You maybe trying to soothe the tantrum of your 2 year old (or 12 year old) rather than navigating the ire of a dragon, but they’re pretty similar in the end.
This is our invitation: exercise your muscle of courage, your adventurous spirit and take a (very small) risk - Join our fellowship or Create your own.
Fathering from the Heart brings the Magic to the Journey of parenting.
It’s the tender space we all need to nurse our wounds from the fiery terrors of sleep deprivation.
It’s the apothecary where we can procure the herbs we need to build strength and stamina to endure the distance from the front door to the car, carseat in hand, diaper bag packed heavy, and the gloomy ear piercing screeches of our little monsters in tow.
It’s the training ground where we learn soothing spells and tactical sword skills.
You can join Dave and me online in the Guided Program.
Or You can recruit a few good men to meet with you in person and adventure in the Group-Led version.
The point is, you don’t journey alone. The point is you bring meaning and purpose and caring attention to the details and get perspectives on the terrain you couldn’t have alone.
And the point is to also have brothers to laugh with along the way, and to have someone there to hold you if and when the tears bubble up.
Make magic with us.... We embark in September, but it’s not too early answer the call and
With an Open Heart and a Questing Spirit,
Noah
